MaineStage School Touring Program
Since the summer of 2011, MaineStage Shakespeare has brought professional, innovative productions of Shakespeare’s classics to audiences in Kennebunk, ME, as well as highly praised youth programming.
But if your school can’t make it to MaineStage, we can bring MaineStage to your school! The talented members of the MaineStage Shakespeare acting company will bring a dynamic, fully staged production right to your auditorium. After the play, our cast of professional actors will engage students in a “talkback” to discuss themes and characters in the play with students and teachers.
The personable MaineStage Shakespeare education team will work with you to customize a program that works best for your school and the age groups that you hope to engage.
When: Spring 2015. But let us know if you have another time of year in mind — we might be able to accomodate you!
Where: School auditorium or comparable space (outdoor productions are available, depending on weather)
Length: Customizable. Our previous school production, Macbeth, ran approximately 2.5 hours, plus intermission and talkback. We also performed a 75-minute version. And we’ll work with you to tailor our production to any time frame!
Grade Levels: 6th grade to adult

Our workshops are one class period long (approximately 45 minutes) and can be tailored to the needs of your students. All workshops are highly interactive; our artists work closely with students to ignite an immediate passion for Shakespeare’s language and for the many artistic techniques that theater demands. Our artists are highly trained, with experience teaching these workshops at our summer MaineStage ShakeStars Camp in Kennebunk and in other venues. Past workshops have included Shakespeare (acting and text analysis), Stage Combat, Improvisation, and Voice.
